Not having cast my nets in March, I'm afraid I didn't catch many fish for May. Despite my omission, however, several of my earlier net-castings brought forth results which follow.
Andrew Ives writes: "Renowned anti-trust lawyer and Oxford scholar David Davenport has joined me at the Santa Fe offices of Rodey, Dickason, Sloan, Akin, and Robb, P.A., New Mexico's largest law firm. During his first week, we successfully defended the local constabulary before a federal jury, due in large part to persuasive oratory!"
John Magee reports he's vice president and assistant secretary of the Discount Corporation of New York, a primary dealer in government securities.
Got a good long note from Doug Darby. He's a vice president at Dillon Read and Company after spending nine years there selling and trading municipal bonds as a specialist in sinking-fund bonds. Debby is active in realestate sales in Port Jefferson, N.Y. Doug reports with regret that he missed reunion last June because of the kids' school commitments. The kids are Kim, 16, a cheerleader at Port Jefferson High School; Paul, 15, "JV basketball hero six-foot, two inches, and he stuffs"; and Scott, 13 - "dirt biker." With what may be seen by many as a trace of irony, Doug closed with the observation that he's "certainly enjoyed all the info we receive biannually in the newsletter."
By chance, I received my March issue of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE today and was amazed to find the Alumni Fund's, goal for this year reported in the '67 class notes column as $10.3 billion. Be assured the Alumni Fund chairman and his staff have not lost touch with reality (although I can make no such statement as to yours truly). The actual figure is $10.3 million. Have you made your pledge yet? If not, the time is now.
