These notes are being put together as your class officers conclude their activities at the annual Class Officers Weekend meetings in Hanover on the first weekend in May. This is a very rewarding and informative gathering; everyone who can make it always does. This year, unfortunately, we had to do without the company of president Len Bryant and Ada. He was recovering from necessary and obviously inconvenient surgery. We can report that everything which needed fixing has been repaired! Treasurer Put Kingsbury was on hand with Louise. Newsletter editors RegBankart and Dero Saunders were there as always, accompanied by Babs and Bea, and of course bequest chairman Al Brush was there with Jean. Co-chairman John Wallace had a conflicting engagement since he was traveling by train from Montreal to Vancouver visiting, among other friends, Fred and DottieHaley in Tacoma. Head agent Al Dodd came up from Cape Cod with Marianne. Our major 50th reunion committee members Don Radash, chairman, and Bob Richter, reunion giving chairman were also on hand, accompanied by Margaret and Audrey. Boband Henrietta Hage, only hours from getting home from a sojourn in the south of France, put off needed sleep to be with us.

Since everyone there is also involved in making and following up on reunion plans, there was also a very good opportunity to discuss some of the ideas for making "The Big Five-Oh" a great success.

Our final gathering for the weekend was planned, mainly by Al and Jean Brush, for dinner at the Quechee Inn for all nearby classmates who could make it. In addition to the eight officers and wives, they were able to round up George and Ruth Colton, Bill andFlorrie Fitzhugh, Don and Ibba Hagerman, and Yank and June Price, together with EricHawke, Holly Draper, and Ruby Field. New Hanover resident Lou Hawkins planned on joining us but unexpected illness prevented him.

Recently I dropped in at the office of our adopted classmate Peter Smith, where he serves right now as reviews editor of the Dartmouth Alumni Magazine. It was good news to learn that Peter has been elected director emeritus of the Hopkins Center after having served as the very active director for now these many years. Peter recently gave a talk at the Alumni Association of Eastern Pennsylvania in Allentown and who should be in attendance but classmate Charlie Ganzel! Peter returned with the good news that Charlie will be on hand at our 50th!

Another very welcome letter came to me from Bill Mumler who lives in Palm Desert, Calif. With last names so close together, we were elbow-to-elbow neighbors in chemistry and other scenes of learning way back when. Bill is deeply involved in the practice of internal medicine in Los Angeles but is taking steps to curtail practice in the hope of retiring in the not-too-distant future and settling down in beautiful Palm Desert.

I have no more regular source of 1935 news than Lowie Haas. He has related to me a little of the recent trials of Fred Raymond in Gatlinburg, Tenn., where in their mountaintop home they went six weeks without water; then, just after the supply was restored they nearly lost everything to a forest fire! We had hoped to see Fred at the Class Officers Weekend, since he serves as participation chairman with head agent Al Dodd. We'll have to catch up later on.

A letter from Rudy Pacht all but promises he and Helen will be on hand for the 50th, "even if it means missing our oldest grandchild's high school graduation. The kid's an all-A student so there probably will be college and dental school graduations for us to attend." At the Southern California Dartmouth Conference Rudy found Ed Ramsey and Walt Kadlec '36 (Walt started out with us freshman year). Rudy says they've had few '35 visitors lately but hope to see more classmates who may be taking in the Olympics. There in North Hollywood, he's certainly nearby!

Word from Ed and Alice Neff has it that they are off this month on a Mediterranean cruise on the QEII followed by a two-week visit in London, where they'll be staying at the same flat a number of our classmates have used as a base for sightseeing and short trips into the countryside.

All of you General Electric stockholders must already know that Ralph Lazarus was again elected to the board of directors. Someone has noted that he is now the oldest member of that board, while another Dartmouth alumnus, Andy Sigler '53, is the youngest!

Though you'll be posted through other sources, this is my last chance to call your attention to the very attractive fall activities in Hanover coming up in September. Our fall reunion is on the weekend of September 28 and 29 at the time of the New Hampshire football game. This follows the Penn game to be held on the preceding Saturday.

On October 19 and 20, you must not miss Dartmouth Night and the Harvard game. Come on up!

And remember: The Big Five-Oh, '35 Let's Go!
