65TH REUNION

Nine stalwart members checked in for the 65th reunion. They were Sandoe, Williams, Googins, Lovejoy, Greeley, Merrill, McCrillis, Pillsbury, and Martin. Sandoe, Greeley, Merrill, Pillsbury, and Martin were accompanied by their wives. The widows were represented by Kitty Larmon, Florence Robinson, and Dorothy Stackpole. Also present were the daughter of John Fornacca with her husband, and Mrs. Dorothy Sears. When we sat down to dinner on Saturday night, in addition to the above, there were children and grandchildren making a total of 28. The feature of the dinner was the showing of moving pictures of previous reunions.

At the formal class meeting the following officers were elected for life: president, N. M. Sandoe; vice president, Briard Greeley; secretary, E. E. Martin; treasurer, C. W. DeMond; "Smoke Signal" editor, C. D. Merrill. The report of the treasurer was discussed, and it was voted to give the treasurer authority to increase dues if it becomes necessary. John McCrillis reported on the class bequest program and indicated the class was doing a good job in this respect. It was voted not to have a formal fall reunion. It was noted that as of the moment there are living 33 graduates and 39 non-graduates.

The memorial service was conducted by Fred Berthold Jr. '45. N. M. Sandoe read a poem written by L. K. Neidlinger '23.

On Sunday, because of our seniority, we led the parade of the alumni to the commencement exercises. We had a banner saying "Dartmouth 1919." When the gathering saw the banner and then computed our ages and noted our sprightliness they broke into loud applause. To say we stole the show is to put it mildly. Incidentally, John McCrillis has put the banner in mothballs so we can use it again at our 70th reunion.

The final event was the cocktail party at Kitty Larmon's house. As usual she was a most gracious hostess and was ably assisted by her son and daughter and their spouses and their children.

The weather was hot but we all had a good time due to the meticulous arrangements made by John Williams and Nick Sandoe.

Nine members of the class of 1919 returned to Hanover to celebrate their 65th reunion, accompanied by 20 friends and relatives.
