Greetings from Atlanta! My stock of mail is running low, and a lot of travel has limited my telephone time, so this column will be short. I know a lot of people probably think that's a good idea!
Amy Simon Berg sends news from Delaware. She married Eric Berg last May. Amy met Eric in her white-water kayaking group, but he also works at Dupont, where Amy is employed. Amy's other activities include being secretary of the Dartmouth Club of Delaware for the third year. She sees John Carney at club functions or occasionally while running. John is an associate director of the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) in Wilmington.
Amy reports that Kathy Maher is engaged to Jim Vivian and is planning a June wedding. Kathy continues to work at the First National Bank of Boston. Carol McKey married Dave Harrington in August 1983. Steve Boulanger gets the credit for introducing them. Carol and Dave live in the Boston area, where Carol works in the same law firm as Lisa MilesMcNamara. Charlotte Barrett is back in Boston after receiving a master's in historical preservation. Amy also reports that LaurenTanney graduated from Stanford B-School last June and is now working for Gallo wines.
Several news items made their way to me from Hanover. Donald McQueen married Virginia Tortolani in December. Don has an M.B.A. from Boston University and is employed by Integrated Resources in New York. His wife works for Security Pacific Bank. They will live in Tuckahoe, N.Y. ThomasHaynes has been elected to the board of directors of the American judicature Society, a national organization for improvement of the courts. Thomas earned his law degree from the University of Chicago and clerked for two U.S. Court of Appeals judges after graduation. Steve Mandel wrote that he has made the move from consulting to Goldman Sachs. This leaves him with a long commute from Greenwich to Wall Street everyday.
Anne Bagamery has been living in San Francisco since August, where she continues to write for Forbes magazine. She is happy to have made the switch from New York City and is enjoying her view of the Golden Gate. This summer, Anne spent two weeks as a tutor in the intensive language study program at the College. You may have seen the resulting article in Forbes. Bob Gray was also featured in Forbes this summer, in an article about Yuppies going to Germany to buy their BMW's on the cheap. Bob is making a smooth transition into the Houston life-style and now has a car befitting his status as a Morgan Guaranty banker there.
Other '78s in California include Duane Petersen, who continues his career as an assistant to the California attorney general and a part-time Los Angeles cop. Frank McNerney is working, selling computers for Lanier, and lives in Berkeley, with his wife, Nancy. Binky Moses is working for the law firm of Orrick, Harrington, and Sutcliffe, where she is litigating corporate cases. Charlie Allison is living in Brooklyn and working for Merrill Lynch in corporate finance on Wall Street. Kelley Fead and Gary Slack recently had a baby boy, Lewis Alexander Slack. Kel- ley is doing free-lance writing and working part time for Capital Publications. Helen Andrews Noble is in med school in Milwaukee. Brooks Clark is still with Sports Illustrated, where he is now covering college basketball.
Mindy Kassen reports that she has moved to Colorado, where she works with the state attorney general on water pollution matters. She looks forward to being able to ski and hike in Colorado, after having spent time as a prosecutor in Los Angeles (perhaps prosecuting the people that Duane Petersen hauled in?). Wendy Muello reports that she is in her second year of residency in internal medicine at Boston City Hospital, after having completed Boston University Med School and a year as a health educator in a clinic in Appalachia. Wendy also plans to get married this summer to .Peter Gair.
