Wayne Hobin and his wife, Kiki (Hamilton '72), returned from Europe after rowing in the World Masters Regatta, held in Ghent, Belgium, and Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In Ghent, Wayne rowed with a Trinity alumnus, and they came in second overall, out of a field of 38, in the double sculls. In Amsterdam, he received two gold medals: one in the men's four with coxswain and the other in the mixed eight. Kiki garnered two second place medals: one in the women's single sculls and the other in the mixed eight. They traveled to Heidelberg, West Germany, and through the Rhine Valley in inclement weather but, according to Wayne, the sights were worth it. And closer to home, Wayne assumed the presidency of the Hartford Barge Club. He and Kiki live in Willimantic, Conn.

Peter Walkley writes: "I became single again in July 1983 and am now adjusting to this new life and identity. I am continuing as an internist at the Laconia Clinic and am chairman of the ICU at Lakes Region Hospital in Laconia, N.H. I am once again active in swimming through the Masters Swimming Club.

Dick and Ruth Wenzel recently traveled to Maryland, combining military reserves with a vacation, then to Toronto and San Antonio to visit Ruth's family. Ruth is working for an allergist in San Francisco, and Dick was recently promoted to supervisor of extension planning at BART. Dick writes that he has hired a sizeable staff (at least for a public agency) to change long-range dreams of extending the BART-system into near-term reality (but. don't ask what "near-term" means). Dick says that it is "satisfying to see the Bay Area rolling behind our transit system, but the dollar signs still look enormous." The Wenzels enjoyed a ski trip to Denver last March as guests of Peter and Marsha Pratt, who have since moved to Walpole, N.H., where Peter was promoted to general manager of the special paperboard division, pressboard products, of Boise Cascade Corporatio

Roger Prince is a geophysicist with Gulf Oil Corporation in Houston. Roger writes: "We are soon to be swallowed by Chevron and are anxiously awaiting news of our futures. I hope to get away from Houston to someplace more hospitable to a New Englander say San Francisco or Denver than flat, hot, and humid Texas. I am still struggling to finish a doctoral degree in geophysics keeping in touch with old classmates is in large part due to my embarrassment over how long it is taking to finish the damn thing."

John Lombardo has taken over as human resources manager at U.S. Marine, the marine propulsion affiliate of Bayliner Marine Corporation. After incorporating in Wisconsin and opening for business in January 1984, the company is currently the third largest .manufacturer of outboard engines in the United States. John writes: "Look out, number one and two. Our primary product name is 'Force' engines. We also produce under a number of retail names. I am well and active in the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Wisconsin, out in the midwest, where, needless to say, Dartmouth is not a household word."

Hank Ricklefs is back in the Seattle area after spending three years in Lake Oswego, Ore. He is still with Simpson Timber Company, now as sales manager for the company's door division. Dick says that BillPickard is trying to organize a "super" rowing club in Seattle and that Ron Olson, having shifted from hotels to banking, is enjoying the change.

Charlie Collier is still living in Princeton, N.J., and working for Princeton University (hold the applause, please) as a fund-raiser. His family spent the summer in Dublin, N.H., and he joined them for much of it, including a weekend at Moosilauke Ravine Lodge. Dick Trafton joined the Colliers for a weekend of tennis and windsurfing in August.

Finally, we received word from TimothyBarron that he has been transferred to the Pacific northwest, where they are expanding the Dole brand product line of fresh fruit to include apples, pears, and cherries. Tim writes: "The kids (Niki and Brittany), Les, and I have settled in Yakima and are enjoying our first northern winter since we left Boston in 1977. Seven years in the tropics thinned out our blood, but we seem to be managing. I look forward to hearing from any of you who may pass through the greater Wenatchee and Yakima metropolitan areas."

That's all for now. See you next month.
