Florida is first choice as a winter resort, to judge by the enthusiastic reports we receive. For instance, there are enough of our '05 family there to hold an annual luncheon towards the end of February.
Yet there is an occasional couple who finds other spots even more inviting. Herford and Priscilla Elliott declare with fervor that the Virgin Islands offer a more desirable relief, not only from the rigors of a New England winter, but also from the pressures of the popular centers of Florida. Last year they discovered at Water Island a house standing on a hill with a view not only to the entrance to St. Thomas Harbor, with its great variety of boats, but on beyond to the vast expanse of the Atlantic Ocean. The Elliotts are returning in March with eager expectation to this beautiful situation. It offers, besides the view, a delightful climate, and of course, swimming in warm water.
Indeed there are those who stay not too discontentedly in the North. We may be beyond trying any winter sport, but there are interesting hobbies, such as playing bridge or reading good books, and leisure to enjoy them by a roaring fire. PollockBalph finds a rewarding hobby in bird feeding. He has a feeding station swinging from a wire stretched between two trees so placed that he can watch the different species, a surprisingly large number. He would be glad to be rid of his squirrels. They interfere with the birds. Pollock has even seen a red fox and some deer. He must live near some woods.
Don't forget to make arrangements to attend our special reunion which the College is arranging for our convenience. The date is June 16-18. Apply to Mr. James McFate for reservations in the very attractive Hanover Inn.
The following men with their wives have already signified their intention to attend this unusual reunion: the Blatners, Camp-bells, Falconers, Putnams.
