Is All-Bran cereal really a drug? In the latest David and Goliath story to emerge from Washington, D.C., the PDA attempted to force Kellogg Company to withdraw its ads for the cereal, since they mention that fiber may be good for your health and possibly decrease cancer risk. Bill Kolasky didn't agree and came before the FDA representing the Council for Responsible Nutrition, whose members are health food and vitamin manufacturers. His efforts were successful, and the FDA modified its iong-standing ban on health claims for food supplements.
Bill lives in McLean, Va., with wife Judy and children Bob (13) and Caroline (ten). Bill has just helped found the Dartmouth Lawyers Association, which had an inaugural meeting in late April, and would like to hear from any interested class attorneys at 703/442- 8255.
W.D. "Rick" Richter has been in the public eye recently as director of Buckaroo Bonzai, a comedic sci-fi action movie which he conceived with Earl Mac Rauch '71. Rick lives in Gloucester, Mass., and produces and directs for both the television and film industries.
Unfortunately, that's all the news for this month. I hope that lots of classmates were able to attend the June 22 mini-reunion in Concord. Also, this will be my last reminder for the 1985 Alumni Fund; please give often and give generously the students need the help!
