During the summer Eleanor McCrea spent several weeks in Nantucket with her daughter and two grandsons and then went to New York City for a round of fun in the "Big Apple." Eleanor keeps busy running her vineyard.
Earl Blaik recently received a Presidential Medal of Freedom. At the same time, similarly honored were Helen Hayes, Barry Goldwater, Vermont Royster, and Walter Annenberg. Earl has been a loyal member of the class and the College over the years.
Nick Sandoe continues to do a superb job getting out the "Smoke Signal," so much so that it is difficult for this scribe to do anything but repeat his news. Recently Nick asked classmates if they still had their senior canes. The number of replies was outstanding. The outpouring proved, if further proof was necessary, that the College was wrong when they allowed this tradition to go by the boards.
Jim Davis' wife, Mary, had faced an operation, but things have cleared up so that it now looks as though she will not need one. Jim is reasonably well also.
The College has received bequests from 27 classmates, and 20 others have indicated they have remembered the College in their wills.
