A sizable delegation of '43s turned out in Hanover in July for the inauguration of James O. Freedman as 15th president of the College. The delegation was led by Trustees George Munroe and Bob Field and ineluded class treasurer Bob Clark; Al Eiseman, who represented Yale; Bill Glovsky;George Grant; Phil Jackson, whose construction company recently completed the Berry Sports Center; Dr. Bob Liming; Hal Lindley; Van Lloyd; Bodie Mosenthal; Bob Scott; Don Taylor; and Paul Young.
The group had a reunion, of sorts, at the Bema following the ceremonies.
By sheer coincidence, George Munroe and Al Eiseman shared a cab from Lebanon Airport to Hanover for the festivities. They didn't recognize each other and didn't discover they were classmates until the conversation during the trip. Al is chairman of Yale's Department of Graphic Design.
Don Taylor is applying the finishing touches on plans for the class mini-reunion in Hanover October 31, the day of the football game with Yale. There will be a class meeting in the Smoyer Lounge of Thompson Arena at 10 a.m. when class president Fred Lent will name a nominating committee for class officers to be elected at our 45th reunion next year. Don has reserved 22 rooms at the Chieftain Motel for classmates for the occasion.
Dick Bugbee has retired from the giant alarm company, ADT, but now is heading up the alarm industry's trade association and consulting occasionally for ADT. And Bud Hall has retired after 40 years with Young & Rubicam, the big New York advertising agency.
Bodie Mosenthal reports that he and Barb had such a busy summer they had to forego the regional mini-reunion in August. They spent two weeks in England in June and later went on a 12-day trip to Nova Scotia with son Scott, his wife, and baby.
Andy Caffrey's wife Clare suffered a stroke while they were vacationing in Florida in January. She has been making a slow but steady recovery since then. We wish her haste in the recuperative process.
Kelly Coffin reports from Florida that he and three other '43s attended a Dartmouth- Rollins College seminar in Orlando in March. Others who showed up were HexHarrigan, Dick Proctor, and Charlie Does. They were greeted and entertained by Rollins president Thad Seymour, a former Dartmouth dean.
Just to keep the record straight, Bob Field is now officially vice president and treasurer of the College. He resigned his trusteeship in June and the Trustees named him to the post he had held in an "acting" capacity. And George Munroe, whose term as a trustee expired in June, has been named to serve the remaining four years of Bob Field's term.
