As indicated last month, Dennis Jolicoeur is a class secretary's dream come true. He's provided enough news to fill over half of this column. What's more, I don't have to rewrite a word of it. Keep an eye on Dennis—he has the makings of a great future class secretary. He writes: "Every now and then we talk to Bob

Payne. He just left William Blair in Chicago to head up an investment banking division for a Minneapolis-based bank. He'll be starting the new division in Milwaukee.

"Two months back, I heard from RandyMacFarlane. He seems to be doing well as one of the government's top lawyers. He keeps taking trips with wife Carolyn to exotic lands and underdeveloped countries. Europe's too civilized for them. Best of all, his wine collection keeps growing, which should give us all added incentive to visit him next time we're in Washington, D.C.

"My brother Marc just bought himself a hardware business in Manchester, N.H. Given his drive, I wouldn't doubt he'll have a chain of hardware stores before long.'

Thanks, Dennis. You are a true diplomat. You speak well of your friends. Those about to be reported upon will probably wish they knew you better.

The Alumni Magazine staff recently received a photo of Jim Burke which isn't printable. They hesitate to why. We can only hope Jim keeps to the higher road insofar as his connections with the hotel industry are concerned. Jim is an associate professor in the School of Food, Hotel and Tourism Management at the Rochester Institute of Technology. He was even a featured speaker at a recent industry conference in Montreal. It all sounds very respectable, and we're sure it is. When in Rochester, contact Jim for a good time.

Next we can report on a classmate who is indisputably part of the "entertainment business. As a jazz pianist, however, Ron Hadley might prefer to call himself an artist. Ron's greatest fan is his lovely wife, Gail Heavilin, who met him during a jam session some ten years ago. Today they collaborate in both the Upper Valley and Japan, of all places. The duo has found a surprisingly serious jazz following in Japan, althougn they admit some of the live audiences there seem more interested in evening gowns, sequins, and cleavage. Some things are international. In any event their work is eclectic: solo vocals by Gail, compositions from Ron, performances of jazz standards, recordings of Japanese children's songs, crank organ recitals, and sessions including French street songs for Japanese Bastille Day celebrations! If you're lucky they'll be featured in an Upper Valley club when you're next in Hanover. Look for them.

And finally, congratulations to Jock McXernan, who married Olympia Snow on February 24 at Lewiston, Maine. Olympia is serving her sixth term as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. If you can't remember who Jock is, look elsewhere in this issue.
