The summer issue of the Alumni Magazine went to press with a short obituary of Philip Mclntire Woodwell '17 just before receipt of a considerably fuller report from his son, George Woodwell '50. Additions and amendments to our original report include mention that the elder Woodwell had not undergone a long illness as we stated but in fact had been writing and publishing articles up to the time of his death in his 92nd year.
Further, the DAM notice neglected to mention that Philip Woodwell was the son of the Rev. George Masters Woodwell of the class of 1884, and the son-in-law of John Sellers of Dartmouth 1883.
Scholarship, and particularly Latin scholarship, has lost an important contributor who has, however, left an extensive body of work.
