The Ledyard Bridge connecting Hanover with Norwich, Vermont, has been rated 3.4 on a scale of 100 by the state of New Hampshire. According to;a state report, 10 percent of the bridge's steel has turned to rust and the deck is cracked. There are no plans for replacement because the state has no money. One anonymous student, responding to the perennial plea from Hanover police not to jump off Ledyard, replied, "with a 3.4 sufficiency rating, it's safer to jump than to drive."
