A year ago we lost our dear president, Sherm Adams, and now our perennial treasurer, Al Frey, has left us. The attrition among our class officers in recent years has been high, and now Nate Whiteside and Red Tillson are the only "real" (i.e. class members) ones left, since Dal Dalrymple is reluctant to be considered president. The Alumni Office may help us with this problem—meantime, any volunteers?

Our necrologist (A.W.W.) says it was difficult to write a 300-word obituary for someone like Al—listing his many achievements took so much space that the warm, witty, kindly man hardly shone through.

To continue Leo Ungar's "Dartmouth Family" saga from the last issue: "We have a granddaughter living in Paris and a grandson going to college studying photography. This year we had a granddaughter (Catharine Payson) graduate from Dartmouth, and since daughter Barbara's husband (Mike Payson) graduated in 1954, we are a Dartmouth family." A fascinating clipping from a Council Bluffs (Iowa) paper recounted a recent multinational expedition up Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, of which Barbara (whose husband is with the International Bank in Ethiopia) was a member. Fascinating details of the climb may be included in a Newsletter (if it ever gets written!).

Two snowstorms during foliage season are appropriate forerunners of this "winter" edition of the Magazine.
