We were saddened to learn in late March from Betty Marden Hyde of the death of her father, Ted Marden, in Franconia after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Hyde wrote of her father's great love for Dartmouth and the class. Her husband, John Hyde '43, is writing his father-in-law's obituary for the DAM.

To Ben Cowden '32 we are indebted for a clipping from the Honolulu Advertiser of November 17, 1988, reviewing a fascinating new book by Bob Krauss entitled Keneti:South Sea Adventures of Kenneth Emory, published by the University of Hawaii Press. A real pioneer in the archaeology of Pacific islands and atolls, Ken "hiked forgotten valleys in Tahiti, explored the remote Tuamoto Atolls, and led an expedition to Mangareva. During World War II he taught island survival techniques to more than 150,000 military men headed for combat." Through his work it became possible to accurately date the occupation of the Hawaiian Islands. Regretfully, Mr. Cowden, who has known Ken Emory since World War 11, reports that he is now in very poor health.

News of any other class members, or their families, from any source, is most welcome.
