Tribe 1927 held its second pow-wow of 1987 on September 18-19 only two months after its illustrious 60th in June. Almost 30 classmates, wives, and widows came back for more, but hardly expected the rude treatment that their football team received at the hands of the Princeton team. Compared with usual Dartmouth reunions, this was a low key and relaxing affair with lots of time for visiting with old friends.

Our new class president, Roger Bury, was in charge and Frank and Evelyn Strong and Pat and Mary Partridge made all of the arrangements. The following dates of future fall reunions were decided: 1988—September 16-17, Pennsylvania game 1989 September 15-16, Princeton game.

Seth Besse was applauded for his super efforts in connection with the Alumni Fund drive when, after writing personal letters to 50 non-giving classmates, he received favorable replies from all but four. The final results for 1927 showed contributions from 83 percent of the 144 classmates. AlliceWormser also received a commendation for her efforts as chairperson of the Memorial Giving Committee.

The speaker at the Saturday night banquet was Ort Hicks '2l, a former assistant to the president of the college for fund raising. Also present was Ort's wife who is an avid reader of this column and claims that this is not only because her maiden name was also Paddock.

But we have other news from other quarters, namely:

We had a fine note from Fengming Tung in New York City who wanted us to know how much he enjoyed being at the 60th. Fen was sorry other commitments kept him from the fall reunion but hopes to make it next year.

Doc Harvey has a new zip code in Sarasota, Fla.: 34231. He still lives at 3510 North Village Court, however.

Bob Tobey's reason for not attending the fall reunion was quite understandable. His youngest daughter was being married in Chicago over the same weekend.

Instead of an excuse, Dow Mills had an incentive to come, as he has a daughter who lives in Vermont. This provides him with a convenient stopping-off place whenever he and Alice come east from Rochester, Minn.

Ding Heap's wife, Lucille, has been suffering for several years from Alzheimer's. Ding was able to care for her at their home until last December when it seemed better for all concerned for Lu to be moved to the Eagle Pond Nursing Home in Yarmouth, Mass.

Have a happy holiday season.
