Ski coach to lead world, Olympic biathlonteams
Dartmouth ski coach John Morton has been named team leader for the U.S. biathl on team at the 1987 Biathlon World Championships and at the 1988 Winter Olympics.
Biathlon is a Nordic ski event which combines the speed and endurance of crosscountry skiing with the discipline, skill, and accuracy of target shooting. Four former Dartmouth skiers have been named to the men's and women's biathlon squads for the World Championships: 1984 Olympians Glen Eberle '85 and Willie Carow '80; Erich Wilbrecht '84; and Anna Sonnerup '84.
As team leader, Morton will act as the team's representative to the governing bodies of each event, oversee administrative details, and handle media coverage of the team.
Dicovitskys leave Dartmouth for UVA
Gary Dicovitsky '72, associate director of Bequests and Trusts, and his wife, Laura Dicovitsky, associate director of Dartmouth's News Service, left Dartmouth in February. Gary will work for the University of Virginia, in a position dealing with planned giving but with an expanded role from the one at Dartmouth. Laura will be returning to her alma mater where she hopes to pursue an interest in communications law.
