As you know, we are now at countdown to June 12-14, 1989, the date of our 55th Reunion. Rooms will be in the Tuck Mall dorms and Bill Wilson is our experienced reunion chairman. Plan your schedules accordingly.

Good to hear that Bill Emerson will be there. He's back on the active trail after eye problems were corrected. After all his chemistry research over the years, it's a comfort to have his Dartmouth chemistry flowing again where we can feel it. With so many family ties, Hanover isn't normal without one of the Emerson clan checking it out. He and Mil will have warmed up the Penn game.

Ana Californians are looking to Hanover. Mary Cotsworth reports her move in Los Altos brings her closer to sons John '61 and Mike '71. Now grandson Chip Richards is in '92, and Mary says there's good chance she'll make one of our reunions.

Shifting to Connecticut, Joe Swensson did not have to compete with the legislature last year for Biz's time only with Rotary, Easter Seals, Choate, etc. and they got to Florida. George Thomas reports he's officially retired, but adds he tutors three days a week at Cheshire School and substitutes two other days! Not yet a rocking chair for him. Still another Connecticut resident, Bob Warner, has more time for home activity, and that includes assembling material for the memoirs he intends to write. Included of course would be stories connected with the Warner grandfather who helped set up the Lehigh Valley R.R. An early starter, Bob now has an M.B.A. grandchild.

Speaking of memoirs, when you're in Hanover you might want to check out the library for old times sake. But it may surprise you as it did me to learn that Baker is just one of eight College libraries. It's the granddaddy, primarily for humanities and social sciences. Then there's Cook (mathematics), Dana (biomedical), Feldberg (business and engineering), Paddock (music), Kresge (physical sciences), Sherman (art), and Sanborn (English and American literature).

We had books by '34s displayed in the Treasure Room of Baker at our 50th, books by 28 of our classmates, from Hafey Arthur to John Spiegel. We'll arrange for an updated showing at our 55 th and I will make a fresh list of all the titles. Any '34 authors out there who have published in recent years, let me know the title.

Henry Allen was at the May gathering in Hanover in memory of Moe Frankel. He was one of Moe's close friends dating back to high school days. He and Bobbie drove from their Wisconsin home, where he is still active with A.O. Smith, seeing their children and families en route. He looks like he could still teach the grandchildren the fine points of football. See you in the stands.
