One rainy summer day the visiting grandchildren became bored with the non-cable TV programs and the available VCR fare so I dug out the Dartmouth Graduate Game which was given to all the participants at the COW in Hanover last spring. The game is sort of a cross between Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, Balderdash, and other board games; the setting is Dartmouth and the Hanover scene and the object is to move your way through and around the various landmarks to arrive eventually at Baker Tower to graduate top in your class. The tads may not have been overly inspired by the stations along the; way, but for an old seasoned graduate it was a nostalgic trip around Hanover with no shanties, no classroom confrontations, no legal encounters.

Henry H. "Hank" Smith of Devon, Pa., substantiates my oft-made claim that lawyers and insurance men never actually retire. On a recent escape to the Cape from his somewhat curtailed office duties, he called to report on his extracurricular pursuits golf, tennis, squash. His Cape trip negated his hosting for a few days Courtneyand Marj Catron, who came East from their California retreat on a business and pleasure trip which was also to include a junket to Hanover for Marj to see her undergraduate son.

While many of our classmates are constantly in transit, Ed and Ruth Brooks could not get off the Vineyard for the fall mini and executive committee meeting in Hanover since their children had arranged a 50th wedding anniversary for them in September. It is good news that Ed and Ruth are once again in good health. Congratulations 45on all counts to both of you.

Milt and Marge Johnston are now securely ensconced (save, perhaps, for a box or two) in their new condo in New London, NH 03257 mail address: P.O. Box 1321.

Ross Martindale, for whom the distance between his summer residence on beague Island and his winter condo in Yarmouth is minimal, writes: "In the year or so we've lived in Yarmouth Nancy and I have seen more '36ers than we used to see in ten years in New Jersey and that's excluding the lobster picnic and gatherings in Hanover (move over Vermont, looks like Maine is taking over).

Ross also sent me a column from a Yarmouth weekly, The Notes, written by Roger C. "Chuck' Williams, who he learns is living quite close by. After a long and distinguished career in publishing and public relations Chuck is currently working in semi-retirement as president of his own public relations firm, Creative Associates. His column, "Random Thoughts from East Elm Street," is a potpourri of ideas and ramblings on the world as he sees it.

A report from Henry Mascarello: DeanNicholson finished the Falmouth Road Race 7.1 miles in 1 hour, 23 minutes, 28 seconds. Of the 5,700 entrants, only seven were 74 years of age or over, and of those seven only three completed the run. Nice going, Dean.

How do you folks like the new format of the Alumni Magazine? Happy Thanksgiving!
