A slight problem with the transition from one secretary to another has put me (a la Gene Autry) back in the saddle again. As a result of the abrupt reassignment, I am short on news but it's better than a glaring gap between '68 and '70.

Bruce Alpert's son Seth was admitted to the class of 1993. This makes Brace the meat in a three-generational Dartmouth sandwich. Brace's father Milton is class of '32. Besides Seth, Brace is "Mr. Mom" to three other children, Jeremy, Missy, and Sean, who keep him hopping. In addition to overseeing this domestic scene, Brace is division chief of pediatric cardiology at the University of Tennessee at Memphis. Bruce recently spent two weeks in Kenya preparing for an international meeting in June of 1989. He is in charge of the Childhood Intervention Committee for that event. Bruce wonders how many other '69s are single parents to four children. I think he wants to swap recipes.

Both John "Tex" Talmadge and JonG.H. Shastid wrote to me on the occasion of my (short-lived) retirement. Tex is still practicing psychiatry in (where else?) Texas, and Jon is doing something constructive (I assume) in Anchorage, Ky. Since Jon was my roommate sophomore year, I am going to indulge in a little "Shastid Trivia" (is that an oxymoron or a tautology?). Do any of you know what the GH in nis name stands for? Does anyone know what the letters in his nickname SJK stand for? Send your answers along with any information I can use in the column and any Dartmouth '69 trivia questions I can pose to the class. Anything to get you guys to write!

My own life remains essentially unchanged, although I am running for school board in town. This is my first foray into politics of any kind and I am having a great time. The outcome of the election probably won't make the lead story on the networks, so watch this space for late-breaking news. And so the '69 column rides again!
