Our former admirable ambassador, Ellis Briggs, enjoyed relaxing at a summer home in Topsfield, Maine. Lucy Briggs has continued to spend time there every summer. She writes, "Topsfield celebrated its 150 th birthday and I was grand marshal of the parade, sitting on the back of an open car driven by my son, and dressed in red skirt, red and white blouse, and red hat. I was told to wave which I did."

Evelyn Fleet's card of October 4 reads "Just returned from a three-week trip to Greece. It was all wonderful but exhausting—well worth being tired—it was great."

Bill Fowler, author of "Shakespeare Revealed in Oxford's Letters" and other lesser works, wrote to Baker Library with an offer to give books from his private library. Dick Fowler '54, who has a business in Hanover, drove to his father's home in North Hampton, N.H., with an assistant librarian who selected 40 books to take back to Hanover. Bill's thoughtful and generous gift worth over $4,000 should be an incentive for other alumni to make similar gifts.
