Help! I need news. There have been so few volunteers that a draft seems needed. Trying to be fair, I wrote ten names on small cards and put them in a hat. I asked my wife to pick five cards. She drew
these names: Mrs. Alfred M. Green, Roland Auger, Mrs. Rhodolphus P. Alger,Frank L. Lambert, and Arthur J. Higgins. If arthritis prevents any of you draftees from writing, please ask a relative or friend to fill a green card with news about your activities, grandchildren, daily walks, pills, or whatever else your friends might like to hear. Just think, one card
can save writing dozens of letters. To draftees and others who respond I will give a special citation.
Eating out is expensive. The bill for two dinners plus tax and tip can easily total $37.50. For that amount I received a first edition book with hard cover and nearly 900 pages which will give many hours of fascinating reading. The title is ShakespeareRevealed in Oxford's Letters, and the author is our own William Plumer Fowler.
We were delighted to see the Sawyers at the mini-reunion. Don had gone through the wheelchair and cane stages and was standing and walking like a man in his fifties. Much credit goes to Jo for patient and loving care during a long recuperation. We wish them well in Rockport and Florida.
