Larry Treat (Larry Goldstone when he was in college and before he legally adopted the name under which he has written so many mystery stories) writes from Edgartown. Space does not permit me to quote him in full. One thing I will not omit, however, is his postscript: "I think that the Dartmouth we knew is a second-rate institution compared to what it is now." While I would not go so far as to admit our Dartmouth was second rate, I am delighted to have a classmate who agrees with me that there has been great improvement, rather than the College has gone to you know where. Larry has written at least 20 full-length, hard-cover mystery stories. He was one of the founders of Mystery Writers of America and has been its president, treasurer, and director.

Speaking of his wife and other matters, Larry reports:

"Rose is not only a talented artist but a mycologist (mushrooms), and while I am no expert, I have written several stories involving mushrooms. Writing has been my life—books, short stories, and a type of illustrated detective puzzle that I originated. My fifth is due this spring, and I am still working on it. Its title: To Unravel a Crimeand Other Feats of Logic."

Larry admits to a few literary awards, the latest last year for a TV story that appeared on the Hitchcock program.
