So many names, so little time. Well the secret is out. I'm history, although not for a little while, and I do plan to really drag this thing out in the best maudlin tradition of old class secretaries. Until then, I'm going for maximum name density, and what better way than . . . Bruce Jackman 111 married Stephanie Lynne Harris (Howard U. '83) in D.C. last summer (just before the really hot weather set in). His partners in crime included Eric Grant, Kery Davis, ToNy Jones, and Bill Pryor '82, all hoping not to stumble over those fateful words "Friend of the bride or groom?" Cleo Robertson 'BO helped as well and William Pryor '54 and his family added a little of that famed Dartmouth continuity to the proceedings.
The pride of SAE, Dave Costello, decided upon marriage to Catherine Holcomb last November, thus ending years of self-imposed abstinence.
Dave had diverted his energies to other avenues, namely obtaining an M.B. A. from Northwestern and building a career at National Westminster Bank in Chicago. Catherine graduated from Vanderbilt, received a master's in education from Harvard, and now works as a training and development specialist at Borg-Warner Financial Services in Chicago.
Well, so much for the pure of heart. It just gets worse from here.
Peter Rockefeller was married recently to Allison Whipple, a graduate of Trinity-Pauling and Hamilton College. Peter has his own art and antique furniture appraisal firm now, after doing time as an appraiser at Sotheby's. Allison is a real estate broker with Douglas L. Elliman & Co. in New York.
The ceremony proceeded smoothly despite fears that Peter's former Si Ep brothers would toast to the wrong things. Peter's real brother, Stuart, and Allison's real sister, handled their responsibilities well and no rings were lost.
According to lists that I see, marriage is out and kids are in, so beware.
Speaking of childish behavior, John Sotos sent me a note in which he innocuously mentioned his friend, Jon Bohn, who, as John S. put it, was living the glory life of a big city attorney at the law firm of McConn & Hardy in Houston. John S. sent his old buddy a c.c. but with a few additional sentences. This triggered an allergic reaction of alarming proportions and quite soon Jon B. was pleading with me not to print what I didn't know. The instigator of all this has been at Stanford for the past year and a half working on a master's in artificial intelligence.
His off hours were spent as a flight surgeon with an air-sea rescue unit in the California National Guard. John is now heading off to start a fellowship in cardiology at Johns Hopkins. Busy boy.
Some quick items: Elizabeth Doyle is in her first year at Northeastern Law School. Sam and Dominique Winebaum had a child, Nathan Harry, in November weighing 4 kgs (go metric, man). The company owned and run by Dana Lanzillo and his father, Harry Lanzillo '47, is named Chrislan Swimming Pools and was a double award winner at the 1988 International Design Competition sponsored by the National Spa and Pool Institute. (Sorry, Mr. Lanzillo, but I had to give your son top billing since this is his column.) I'm sure that any '79s looking for career alternatives could be models for next year's show.
Rob and Sue 'BO Shaw-Meadow got tricked when they should have treated and wound up with their second child, Nathan Lloyd, last Halloween. Finally, if you see Carl Briscoe, tell him that he should have made more friends in college so that he'd recognize some of the names in these columns.
