Mud season . . . some things never change.

"FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: BRINEGAR ELECTED A VICE PRESIDENT AT LEO BURNETT. Brad Brinegar, account supervisor in the client service division of Leo Burnett USA, has been elected a vice president, the advertising agency has an- nounced." Brad interned at Leo Burnett ten years ago, and has been working there fulltime since 1978.

Chris Jenny wrote to enclose a photo of his son Alex, aged a few months, saying "If this photo doesn't make the Alumni mag, I never will." Alex has visited Hanover four times in the first three months of his life, mostly due to Chris's involvement with the DCAC and Alumni Council. (Anyone care to challenge this record for a Little Greener? There are sure to be some rival stories out there.)

Janet and Ken Rosenfield phoned, serendipitously, just as this column was composing itself. They have pretty much decided to stay put in the Boston area for the time being (they'd received some interesting phone calls since the last column had them considering the West Coast, so we offered to place them in Texas this time around). Life is stressful and they're feeling tired . . . just like the rest of us with jobs and kids, by 9:00 p.m. No wonder we aren't receiving bucketsful of news for this column—most of us are too busy just trying to juggle and ultimately to find a balance that feels comfortable for our lives.

The Rosenfield rumormongers have it that Eric Witte's aerodynamic ski-racks ride on car-tops all over New England (but Ken claims they're out of his price range), and that Mark Desnoyers recently became a staff cardiologist at Tufts, has a young son and a lovely wife named Joanie, and is trying to grow a beard; also, that Will Danford is going into private practice as a cardiologist in Maine. So, save your heart troubles for New England and give a classmate the business.

Nancy Wasserman, freelance photographer extraordinaire, has practically hung up her lenses, and we'll all miss the product of her craft as she engages in new endeavors. She has been appointed executive director of the Vermont Community Loan Fund, which matches investors with builders of housing for those with low to moderate income. She is also working one day a week for the publication you hold in your hand—the Dartmouth Alumni Magazine—as photo editor.

Speaking of which, we would like your comments and reactions to recent issues of the Alumni Magazine. We've had second thoughts about writing a column for a publication which so prominently and repeatedly features advertisements full of invective and falsehood from entities sucas the Hopkins Institute. We found it somewhat difficult to extricate the text of Dartmouth news from these advertisements in the last issue, and were troubled by the implications.

If there's anyone out there reading this column, send a card, drop a line, write, or call with news, jokes, corrections, commentary, poetry . . . anything to pull us out of the mud this time of year. Thanks!
