The preparation of these notes was somewhat advanced due to the absence of your scribe and his spouse on the Dartmouth Alumni Holiday, which in volved a fabulous cruise down the Seine to Rouen with side trips in Normandie. JinBurner recalls that she came to four Dart- mouth carnivals with Ike from Vassar. She is in a "most comfortable" retirement home near her second son, Jim '5l, and is blessed with excellent health and mobility.
Betty Carpenter writes that her granddaughter, Betty '85 (cum laude) graduated this June from the University of Chicago Theological School and is taking off with her husband, Bill Ragan '82, for Jimmy Carter's habitat. Betty's grandson Walter Palmer worked out with the Celtics for two weeks this summer. Betty herself spent time on Squam Lake.
"Scoof' Newton's camping trip in August included son Jeff '65, grandsons Joel and Chris '90. Chris was the cook. Granddaughter Jennifer is now a member of the class of '93.
Our 1925 scholarship recipient, Kellyann Mac Lean '92, lived up to our expectations, earning an A- average during her freshman year and was named to the second honors group. She worked part time in the Biomedical Library to help cover her expenses as well as taking part, in class activities.
If, as the Review thinks, Dartmouth is on the wrong track, she needs our love and support more than ever. Don't turn her off.
