At its November meeting the Alumni Council nominated Richard M. Page to serve a five-year term as a Dartmouth alumni trustee, beginning June 1990. Page, chairman and CEO of the insurance brokerage Fred S. James & Co., Inc., is president of his class, a former member of the Alumni Council, a former officer of three Dartmouth clubs, and recipient of an Alumni Award. He lives in Darien, Connecticut.
The Council and the Trustees are considering reforming the alumni trustee selection system. A special trustee committee presented several options to the Board in November. Board members say reforms likely will be implemented in time for next year's nominations. But until a formal vote is taken, the Council is obligated to comply with the Alumni Association's constitution—which mandates a single Council nominee for alumni trustee. Unless other nominations are received by February 12, 1990, Page's name will go to the Trustees as the alumni nominee. Until then, any 250 franchised alumni may file a petition to nominate an eligible alum for alumni trustee. Forms are available from the Office of Alumni Affairs.
If no candidate is nominated by petition, there will be no vote for trus- tee, and Page will be the Council's alumni trustee nominee.
