MARCH 1989 Ralph T. Maynard,

With pleasure I quote in part from a program describing an award presentation made by the Wildwood Advisory Group to Ned Pitkin: "For over 15 years in retirement Ned has devoted his life endless hours, seemingly tireless energy, creativity, professional skills, valiant and undaunted persistence to meeting challenges and providing opportunities for disabled children and adults." This, in the Troy/Albany area, is recognition of outstanding community service. We're proud of you, Ned.

Ann Zawistoski wrote that Steve was a patient at Rutland (Vt.) Medical Center. No other information on him, so perhaps some of you nearby could give Steve or Ann a call.

Gail Bach wrote that Otto, after building up the Denver Art Museum for 30 years, retired as director in 1974; and that, as a hobby, he has personally produced many rather remarkable paintings of his own. Since retirement he's had two shows in Denver, but can no longer paint due to arthritis. Somehow we ought to get a work of his into the Hood. Any ideas out there?

In a recent letter Roger Williams located Atlantis, Fla., for this poor student of that state's geography, as being about three miles inland from Lake Worth, and north of Boynton Beach. They've lived there since 1973. Connie and he, who celebrated their 56th anniversary last August, now have two great-grandsons. Class record? A six-inch pin holding together the leg Rog broke playing golf last May keeps him mobile. In the just published "Who's Who

Among the Sioux" appears a brief biography of Ben Hardman, who was born on the Yankton Sioux Reservation. Highlights include: Ben's being the fifth and oldest living Indian Dartmouth graduate; the first Indian to earn a Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota; his vocations in radio newscasting, education, and writing; and being an emeritus full professor in linguistics, College of St. Catherine, Saint Paul, Minn.

I hope many of you will accept the Magazine's invitation to comment on the "College versus University" issue. The College's effort to obtain consensus among alumni/ae on this important issue deserves your response.
