The memory of Ford Sayre is alive and well in Hanover. A "chubber" in College, he continued interest in skiing and later married Peggy, a likeminded enthusiast from Smith College. Between them they managed the Moosilauke Ravine Lodge,: and later the Hanover Inn, where they started the first children's ski school in the country. After Ford's untimely WWII death in 1942, the Ford Sayre Memorial Ski Council was formed and offered free instruction to area children. Over the years some 20,000 kids have been on the slopes, and six have been Olympic skiers.

Jus Stanley and Leigh celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at Sun Valley, skiing with assorted children and grandchildren. Later they spent some time in Russia, described as a great intellectual experience. They report that friends Dottie Weeman and Helen Jackson are both fine.

Another foreign traveler was Miller Wachs. He and Margaret have had a month's sojourn to India with 30 other Methodist Church members who met with sister congregations where they are sponsoring rural churches in all areas or the country. The trip was concluded with visits to Darieeling and Katmandu.

There's mostly good news and some sad from Williamsburg, Va. Emily Hobbs, our newsletter person who replaced Bob Cox after a record number of years service, spent a pleasant Christmas with family in Connecticut. Phyllis, John Rockwell's wife, has had a rather severe stroke and is in a rehabilitation center in Richmond. John is back at his retirement job at the National Center of State Courts, advising these

bodies on how to better serve the public. Mrs. Fred (Betty) Conger has won the great-grandchildren derby with a total of three, ages two to seven. Prize, one green and white reunion umbrella.

Bill Dorman and Alice are reluctantly leaving the home where he was born to join a retirement community in Lima, Pa. He comments "The trouble with retirement homes is that they are full of old people." Hope this won't preclude his annual ski trip to the Mt. Washington headwall.
