The Howard Hughes Medical Institute has granted the College $1 million to expand its program in structural biology, which studies the three dimensional structures of DNA, RNA and other biologically important molecules. The research could lead to a clearer understanding of how cancer and other diseases develop. The grant will be used to develop classes, increase undergraduate research, create faculty positions and expand laboratories.
