Continuing with our investigation of the class's longest married couples, Alex Nagle (one of my 16 roommates) checks in with his and Mary A.'s wedding date of June 16, 1943, at 2:30 p.m. Alex went on to say that he and Mary A. went to Australia and New Zealand in November, then took a cruise to Malaysia, Sumatra, Java, Bali, and Singapore. As soon as they returned to the U.S.A. they left for Europe. He added that he hopes to retire in 1990. All that on one 15-cent postcard!

Bud Kast gave me a brief report on the Wheelock Cluster '43-sponsored barbeque. This is getting to be a unique annual affair that I was sorry to miss because of a granddaugher's graduation from college. Bud said that Tom Gerber gave an excellent presentation on the art of journalism, and Dr. Bob Liming was equally interesting on the subject of radiology. To add the women's point of view to this workshop, Ginia Allison, Vassar '48 and wife of Huntly Allison '42, was invited to address the group. Ginia had a nice mix of career and motherhood starting out with the public relations department for American Express, retiring to raise her family through age 13, and then returning to teach English for 12 years. The 50 undergraduates who were present asked many excellent questions, and the give-and-take was most rewarding. We should all try to attend this affair next year I'll be glad to volunteer on "How to Sell Games."

Bud also reported that he and Angela were married in November 1941. I think that closes the book on our longest-married-couple contest, unless someone was secretly married in high school, and wants to come out of the closet.

I regret to report the deaths of Richard Bugbee on April 30 and George Burke M.D. on June 1.
