Dr. Harry Guenther who is an internationally known educator and consultant, has been named Cohodas Professor of Banking and Finance at Northern Michigan University, filling the university's first endowed chair. He has been a professor of accounting and finance there for the past two years, and is a former dean of and professor at the School of Business at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Harry has had a wide range of experience in teaching, research, and service both at home and abroad. His areas of specialization include regulation of financial markets and institutions, debt problems of less developed countries, and the impact of regulations on financing of small businesses. Early in his career he held teaching positions at the University of Beirut, Lebanon, and at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Harry and his wife, Priscilla, live on a farm at Rumley, Mich., where they raise Angora goats and Shetland sheep for luxury fibers for handspinners. They have two children, Chris and Kimberly, who live in Virginia.

A recent press clipping called my attention to Dick Frieder, who has been elected to the board of directors of Career Com Corp., a vocational training concern. After Dartmouth, Dick got a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania and practiced for two years. He then went into business with the Keystone Shower Door Company of which he is owner and president. KSD makes bathroom fixtures such as shower doors and medicine cabinets and is located in Southampton, Pa. Dick and his wife, Lois, have three children, a son and two daughters, who are grown and married or engaged. Dick enjoys tennis and golf and has traveled extensively around the world. He stays in touch with his roommate, AaronSimon. His advice to the class: "stay in good health."

In an attempt to provide balanced geographical coverage, I had a nice chat with Gene Givens in Los Angeles. Gene has his own law firm specializing in estate and trust practice. After a two year stint in the navy, Gene received a law degree from Northwestern Law School, and joined the FBI as a special agent in Los Angeles. When asked to transfer to the Midwest, Gene left the Bureau and became a trust officer in banking, first with Bank of America and later the Bank of California. In 1967 he hung out his shingle, firmly planted in Southern California. Gene ana his wife, Gwyn, have four children, all interested in basketball. Greg is a Dartmouth '92, Chad is a Brown '93, and twin daughters Tenley and Asgkee are juniors in high school. Gene has kept up his interest in sports by coaching youngsters, playing some tennis and as an avid fan of his four kids. He hopes to get to Hanover and Providence this fall to see his sons in action. Gene sees John Rossiter, CharlieGreenberg, and Bob Brown from time to time.

Over the summer Ruth and I had a small reunion of friends from London, which included '55's resident Brit, Gus Aberle. Gus was back during vacation to attend the Alumni College and seemed to be holding up well in the academic environment.
