Among the missing from my list of mini-reunion attendees was MonkMartin. The old teacher, coach and referee now lives in Plymouth, Vt., and is a frequent spectator at Big Green sporting events. Also in Hanover for a meeting of John McClintock's reunion committee over the Yale game weekend was BobWinstanley.
Joining the ranks of the retired is Ignatius Tikellis. After many years in the practice of medicine, Tik will spend his time between Rehoboth Beach, Del., and Stuart, Fla., devoting his time to becoming a golfer, he says.
Another January 1990 retiree, Art Sharr, has revealed his intention to remain in Oxford, England, having lived there for the last 20 years. In the past, Art's teaching schedule has prevented attendance at reunions, but he now intends to be in Hanover for the 45th. He also mentioned visiting his freshman roommate, Dave Andrew, in Portland, Maine, a couple of summers ago.
Seen at the Brown game were Jim andAri Lynch and John and Joan Potter. John is now retired, and they spend considerable time each summer at their camp at Lake Mascoma.
Bob Kimball reports seeing a number of classmates at last fall's "Wearers of the Green" dinner in Boston, including WhiteyCampbell, Robert N. "Mike" Thayer,Billy Riley, Dale Armstrong, and ClarkJudge.
Nice note from Buol Hinman, who reports things going well with his family in Rome, N.Y. He and Joan were able to get away for some R&R in Florida, with Joan coming along nicely after surgery last August. With sons Mark '75 and Kirk '74 now each having three daughters, Buol says he is beginning to weaken his opposition to Dartmouth coeducation (join the club!).
Also want to thank Buol for sending along a copy of an article from the August 1989 issue of PIMA magazine featuring JudHannigan as its "man of the year." In honoring Jud, the Paper Industry Management Association recognized his excellence in management and his outstanding leadership abilities. Now senior vice president of mill operations for Champion International Corp., Jud's contributions to the paper industry over the years have been referred to as "the stuff of legend," and "his most lasting contribution may well be as the developer of promising young people." Rumor has it that Jud is about to retire to Kittery, Maine, so perhaps we can see him more often on the Dartmouth scene in the years ahead.
Sorry to learn from his wife, Betsy, that Maurice Ready Jr., died in May 1987 of cancer. The Readys were planning to retire to Prince Edward Island when Maury became ill in 1985. Our sincere condolences to Betsy and other family members.
