'Twas the morning of due day, Editors waited, to see An '80 class column Penned by Wade, or me Not a word from a soul, Nor rumor, nor tome, Graced my voicemail, Or arrived at my home. When out from my mailbox There fell, with a roar A bevy of postcards And letters, and more. So thank you, dear classmates, For your empathy If you hadn't written You would have read about me. (How boring.)

From Julie Dunfey: "My husband, Chris Darnell,'76, and I had a baby girl on October 27, Hayley Dunfey Daniell. 'Thomas Hart Benton, a film which I coproduced, had its national PBS broadcast the same week (needless to say, we were otherwise occupied)."

From the Mystic Compass: "FrankLeady has been appointed to the department of surgery with privileges in urology at Westerly Hospital. He completed his residency at the University of Colorado and lives in Stonington."

From Mark and Paula Ness Speers: We've been married for four and one-half years and have been working for Bain & Company since each of us graduated from business school. The big excitement in our lives is our four-month-old son, Ryan. We are both on leave/sabbatical so that we can be home with him. The three of us are spoiled, as we sing nursery rhymes and play games whenever we wish!" (You mean you couldn't do so at Bain & Company?)

From the Danbury News-Times and the Newton Bee: "Joan P. Draper has opened an office to practice ophthalmology and ophthalmic surgery in Danbury. She recently married Dr. Gary Townsend, an ear, nose, and throat surgeon." (The Draper/Townsend household provides onestop shopping if you have above-the-shoulder problems.)

From an anonymous source: "Sally NuttVan Leeuwen and her husband, Tom, had their first child, Laura, on October 3 in Greenwich, Conn. Sally is on leave from CBS, where she was in charge of network sales analysis. Tom is a security analyst at Shearson Lehman Mutton. Laura has not revealed what she is analyzing."

From the Boston Globe: "Shari MedinaJankowski has been appointed to a staff position at the law firm, Wiggin and Nourie " From David Osborn: "Last June I left McKinsey and joined Kidder Peabody in New York as an associate in the newly formed Private Business Group. I work on exclusive sales of private businesses. It's much more fun than analysis ad nauseam."

From Hamilton College: "Assistant professor of geology Dennis Geist spent the summer studying the historically active Albedo volcano located in the Galapagos Islands. He had received a grant from the National Science Foundation. Geist said of the expedition, 'We left the Galapagos with unforgettable experiences. Working 4,000 feet above sea level, where the land is completely arid, it was necessary for the group to carry water to survive. We were also confronted by the giant tortoises that periodically trampled through our campsite, eating and destroying entire tents.' "

Remember to reserve your spot for our tenth reunion, June 15-17. And yes, one of me features at this reunion will be BABYSITTERS. LOTS OF THEM. MANY BABYSITTERS. (For your children, that is.)
