I can't believe it, I actually have too much information. So let's get right to it.
OLD NEWS DEPT. As promised, the details on the Murphy and Fowler weddings. RayMurphy and the former Beth Lindstrom were married in September in Hartford. The details, from Tom Shanahan, are a little fuzzy, through no fault of Tom's. The happy couple is living in the North End of Boston where Ray is a real estate lawyer and Beth is working for the up-and-coming Massachusetts Republican Party. TomLane, an attorney, and Kurt Hofmann, Philadelphia physician, served as ushers. Kurt and his wife, Karen, are the proud parents of one-year-old Patrick.
Bob Morris wrote to tell me of MikeFowler's Memorial Day matrimony. "Mike was married to Julie Bunck (graduate of Kansas State and University of Virginia) in Herton, Kans. Most of the town of Everest, Kans. (population 300), were in attendance to see their native daughter marry. Also in attendance were myself, Bob McNeil, and Paul Brosnahan. By all accounts, it was the biggest event in northeastern Kansas in some time ... Mike and Julie will spend the next year or so in Belize, where they plan to write a couple of books. Mike is currently putting the finishing touches on his third book, a study of terrorism."
MORE MARRIAGES. Dave Noonan hit the wedding circuit hard this fall and wrote to tell of his adventures. Here's a slightly toned down version.
"1. James G. Coulter trades leisure suit for Palm Beach suit and marries Penny Saer... in an intimate little ceremony attended by all of uptown New Orleans. (Reception was at the Superdome and spilled into parking lot). Attending: Jon Merriman, CurtisReid, Shaun Rai, Kathy Briscoe, JohnColon, David Lee, Scott Stuart '81, Chip Debelius '79, Stephen Godchaux '81 (no taller), Michael Dubose (no smaller, is a father).
"2. Glenn Grube gets married to Xiomara... What can you say about a guy who gets married in a double-breasted suit and interrupts his dancing to rip out a couple of saxophone solos? (Cooler than most of us, if that means anything.) Attending: BrianMcDonough, Nash Ogden, John Westerfield '81 (a new father), Peter Boone 'BO and wife Gina, and Bob Hill '80."
Elsewhere, Jonathan Marvel and Quina Fonseca (Sarah Lawrence and M.F.A. from Yale) were married in October. Jonathan earned a degree from Harvard's Graduate School of Design and is currently an architect in New York.
Yes, that was Cheryl Bascomb's smile brightening the pages of a recent L.L. Bean catalog. Cheryl is working for the Freeport, Maine, firm, which is a requisite for appearing in the catalog. One photo was also picked up by the Washington Post. Now that's what I call free advertising. I hope Cheryl gets a raise out of the deal.
