Charlie Morrissey recently sent along news that Alan R. Booth, professor of history at Ohio University, was written up in the Chronicle of Higher Education as recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship to Swaziland. I have written AJ to get details but have heard nothing further as yet.

Robert S. Becker has joined Stearns and Wheler as senior waste planner. Bob did his graduate work in architecture and regional planning at Cornell and has spent more than 20 years in systems planning, design, construction, ana operation of both public and private solid waste facilities.

John Wetzel was one of only 16 outstanding teachers chosen to participate in the fifth annual Summer Institute conducted by the Connecticut Writing Project. John received his M.A. degree from Fairfield University and is now program leader for language arts for the Trumbull, Conn., public schools. The Institute, sponsored by the University of Connecticut, was held on that university's Stamford campus from June 27 to July 21. Participants studied the latest research, engaged in intensive writing and editing sessions, and are now prepared to serve as teacher/consultants in their participating school districts.

Old news, but, about Christmastime, it was good to hear from Clem and AnnMalin, Bill Behrens, Jim and GlennHoshal, and Dotty and Burt Kellogg, all of whom expressed some concern about the effects of Hugo on Charleston and the Olsens. It's always nice to know that old friends are out there thinking of you.

Cube Conroy has been keeping me up to date on the Hanover news, sending clippings from the Valley News with all sorts of info on budget cuts at the College. On a brighter note, he also reported on the Fun City Fantastic gathering, headquartered at the Yale Club in New York, January 26-28. He reports that the social activities were a smashing success, ending with a brunch hosted by Dick Rosen at his East Side apartment. In attendance, in addition to Dick and Cube, were Buster Allen, RussBrace, Ted Bremble, Len Clark, BobDanziger, Bob Faulkner, Roy Friedman,Kirby Fowler, Hal Gordon, John Higgs,Doug Keare, Paul Kreindler, TomKuhns Clem Malin, Leo McKenna, RonMullen, Ab Oakes, Wally Pugh, TedRowe, Rog Schumacher, Skip Sisson,Howard Sodokoff, Line Spanieling, JackTamagni, Dick Taylor, Bill Tell, BillWebb, Elliott Weinstein, Dick Whitney, and Mike Zissu. Must have been great. Sorry a broken leg forced me to miss it.

Let me hear from you. Till next time.
