Just when it seems there is less and less for a secretary to write about along comes a clipping from Major Bird about his being the "oldest man" at a summer meeting at the Grand Mackinac Hotel on Mackinac Island. Congratulations, Major. I wish I might hear more from you.
Cap Palmer sends a note that says he does not think he will be back for C.O.W. because he cannot leave his wife for more than two hours at a time. Everybody liked the picture of Carlos Sanchez here a couple of issues ago.
The Boston Globe printed the following and we oldsters should get a kick out of it. In answer to a complaint about teenagers and their lack of respect and ambition, someone quoted Socrates (469-339 B.C.): "The children now love luxury. They have bad manners, contempt for authority, show disrespect for adults, and love to talk rather than work or exercise. They no longer rise when adults enter the room, contradict their parents, chatter in front of company, gobble down their food, and intimidate their teachers." Socrates may have been a great philosopher but he had one blind spot. He remembered himself as a model child.
That's all for now. Send me something about yourself. It's later than you think.
