How about this for a contrarian promotion? Even as the Boston real estate market slides inexorably toward oblivion, realtor Meredith & Grew announced that none other than Dave Crane had been elevated to assistant vice president. Poppa Cranie needed this one, folks; his projected college tuition for his two bam-binos runs about $100,000 annually.

Here's an update on Jim Mitchell, whom you may recall being mentioned here several months ago. Jim has recently been named general manager of Mariner Capital Group, a development company based out of Bangor, Maine. Jim will be responsible (obviously) for many things at Mariner, but one of the most intriguing is orchestrating the opening of several' 'Prompto 10 Minute Oil Change" facilities. Jim says, "you even get a cheeseburger while you wait!" I say, "What? No drink? No fries?" C'mon! By the way, Jim remains a partner in the Bangor marketing firm Mitchell & Mitchell.

Just the other day, I thought, "You know, it's been at least two weeks since Lisa Feinberg sent me any fitness videos." Predictably, new material arrived that same afternoon. Lisa teamed up with former Olympic skier Pam Fletcher to introduce fledgling skiers to the intricacies of downhill racing, including prerace warm-ups, starting and finishing techniques, and selecting the right equipment. Lisa's been on the professional ski racing tour since 1984. I nave also learned, through painstakingly sneaky research, that Ms. Feinberg is in high demand as a ski clothing model. Sorry, my sources have to be anonymous.

Here's a note from Stacey and BruceDanziger. Actually, it's really from Stacey. Bruce never writes. Now I know why. He was busy marrying Stacey last September 10, honeymooning in France and Italy, and settling down in Radison, N.Y. Bruce is general manager of WCIZ/WNCQ radio stations in Watertown, N.Y., and Kingston, Ontario. He also happens to own these stations jointly with Jeff Shapiro and is on the prowl for more. Speaking of Jeff, he remains general manager of WHDQ/WTSU in Claremont, N.H. And, Jeff's been married (how did I miss this?) for almost two years to Ms. Mary Howell (Smith '82).

Gerard Kelly has checked in from Chicago and I'm not sure what makes him happiest: the fact that he's out of the "horrendous congestion and confusion" of New York City, that Wrigley Field is the apotheosis of baseball diamonds, or that he and wife Eileen have an eye-poppingly adorable baby named Elizabeth. Gerard has been an attorney since graduating from Stanford Law, working as a litigator ("mixed trial level and appellate practice") for Sidney & Austin. Eileen is a corporate and securities attorney with the firm Baker & MacKenzie. Gerard, refreshingly contemporary, tells me he's looking forward to his "paternity" leave. It is truly amazing to document what happens to people when they depart the Big Apple.

From University Park, Pa., word is that Sandy Bryan has been named assistant coach for women's lacrosse at Penn State. Sandy has been synonymous with lacrosse for many years now. She has been on the U.S. National Team since 1981, played on the Australian and England tours, and was a member of the 1982 and 1986 World Cup teams. Recently, Sandy had been teaching science at the Waynflete School in Portland, Maine. Well, keep an eye on the Nittany Lions this spring they may very well have one of their strongest teams ever.

Just wondering: I'll be turning 29 in a few days. Does anybody else have knees that snap for no particular reason like me?
