Happy New Year, troops. As we move collectively into the Clinton Era, here are a couple of gentle reminders [for your careful consideration:

•Make Plans for the Tenth Reunion: It's getting closer. The momentum is tangible. Reunion Chair Frank Davis is the apotheosis of organization. Green postcards were sent out a few months ago asking for your feedback about attending. Have you filled them out yet? We want to break the record for Tenth Reunion attendance. We can only do it if you check the box marked "Yes," or if Greg and RandiCurhan have several dozen more babies. The latter ain't likely, so help us out here.

•Pay Your Class Dues: I have been admonished before for using this space to wax editorial (Yes, Tom Spence, I still have your letter), but feel a need to put in a couple of words on behalf of our loyal, diligent Class Treasurer Charlie Morrison. Class dues are due. It's important that you pay them. Not enough of you do, however. Please change this behavior. As part of our reunion year and a demonstration of '83 class spirit, it would be fantastic if everybody chipped in. Thanks in advance for doing so.

Okay. We're rolling now. You may have noticed that I made an oblique reference earlier to a new baby. Evan Joseph Curhan, first son of Greg and Randi, arrived in mid-November. Evan tipped the scales at an eyepopping nineplus pounds and is worried that small-cap stocks are dramatically overvalued. He'll be in Hanover in June, too.

Like all other secretaries, I sometimes scratch my head and think how remarkable it is that months can pass and not one person in a class of 1,000 writes me a letter. Long ago, I used to take this rather personally. After years of therapy, I am better able to withstand this continual disappointment. However, HOWEVER, this column is nearly always salvaged by a last-minute, unexpected piece of correspondence. This month's serendipity award goes to Amy Iorio '84. According to Amy... Shelley (Drake) and Jim Hawks bought a house in Massachusetts. Shelley is working on her Ph.D. in Asian Studies at Brown, while Jim spends the daylight hours at an industrial supply products company. SheilaKirby works at a "software company" (Amy can be kinda sketchy on details) doing "training, implementation, you name it, she should be made VP." Sheila's husband, Bob Finch '79, does "roughly" the same thing that Shelley Hawks's husband, Jim, does. Meanwhile, Susie Donovan is at Inc. magazine in Boston; Kathy Hoes is engaged (to Larry Carter) and works for American Management Association producing videos; and LauraStein-Conrad and husband Mark and their two "angel" children have returned to San Francisco. Laura is in Chlorox's legal department and Mark (we think) is at UC Berkeley.

Amy's letter just keeps going... and going ... and going. Michelle Ott, believe it or not, now lives in Czechoslovakia. (Really, Michelle? Does Alex Brown have an office there?) EileenLynch married Jack Silvia '85 last September. This is worth spending a moment on: Eileen and Jack (a.k.a., in Alpha Chi vernacular, "Yak") met several years ago on Block Island at a raucous pre-wedding party for Kathy andRuss Mitchell. The Worms were playing and Jack, who goes about 6'3", 215 pounds, began tossing Eileen, who might be 5'3", 95, all over the dance floor. It was an awesome spectacle. Obviously, the chemistry was there from the start and persisted. Eileen is now a doctor and Jack is a lawyer.

OK, what else? Bill Kouchalakos has a Harvard M.B.A., works in real estate, and plays in Boston. Rich O'Connell works for an advertising agency (Chiat Day? Maybe.) in New York City. And, Dave Roberts is working in Seattle as a marketing manager for Aldus, a major computer software company.

And that, folks, is literally all she wrote. It would be good to hear from some of you. Send me a postcard. Or flowers. Or something. Thanks. See you in June!
