As we close out our literary year, there are a number of bases we should touch. First, as of this writing we do not yet have the stats for our class's percent participation, or the total dollar donation to the Alumni Fund. But, Head Agent HenryBrezinski and his crew have had their job to do, and it looks as though their efforts are bearing fruit. Participation appears better, i.e., more of us are getting in on the drive a tribute to Hank's ability to communicate and the local agents' persistence. We predict a fast, successful closing, so thanks go to Henry and to his network of over 70 classmates. Space prevents naming all names, but you know who you are, and we're grateful.

Class Officers Weekend, April 27 and 28, saw the elite of the class (officers, naturally) gather for programs at the Hop, supper at the new Berry Sports Center on the Ed Leede court floor, and for a Saturday morning of working breakfast meetings, followed by a group meeting at the Hop for the latest in planning developments.

Another upbeat note: Our magazine has come out No. 1 in the nation of all college alumni magazines, with two gold awards: best overall college magazine and best editorial content. We're working with winners!

Start jotting down your summer happenings, for my use this fall. Here's the kind of news I like: Sax Fletcher writes he has retired from his job as night editor of the Springfield, Mass., newspapers. In April, Sax decided to walk from Springfield to his Greenfield, N.H., summer home 96 miles. He did it in six days, stopping at friends, and one motel. I think this should start a '47 trend. Let's hear from you all, on your most interesting walk, long or short, where you went, what you saw, how you ate, where you slept, and most of all why you did it? Nice work, Sax. I hope you've started a trend.
