I'm impressed! No need for telephone calls, but the good news for '64s just rolled in this time. Jim Cornehlsen reports joining Heidrick and Struggles, Inc. in New York City as a partner in that renowned executive search firm. Jim works in the general management area for consumer product and marketing companies and as managing partner in media and communications. Jim reports meeting Sandy Hight M.D. who, in addition to practicing pediatric surgery in Farmington, Conn., continues his love of the outdoors and recently concluded a month-long trip to Nepal. Allen Campbell was recently named vice president and general counsel for Unitrode Corp., Lexington, Mass. A wah hoo wah for Roger Hull who on Ma 31 was elected 17 th president of Union College, Schenectady, N.Y. Roger went from Daranouth to Yale Law School, to the University of Virginia for his doctorate, and then to a large Wall Street law firm. Roger's work eventually included the political and governmental arena, when he became the political and legal advisor to the governor of Virginia. From there he went to Syracuse University as VP of development, then, in 1981, he became president of Beloit College in Wisconsin.
The new position is an acknowledgment of the fine achievement and growth at Beloit during Roger's tenure including doubling alumni contribution percentage and quadrupling endowment and life funds. Roger won the post at that fine small liberal arts school (sound familiar?) among more than 200 potential candidates. Also in the academic arena, a wah hoo wah for Stephen Blake, associate professor at St. Olaf University, Northfield, Minn., who was recently franted tenure. Steve received his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago and is heavily involved in Asian studies, being chair of the Pew Middle East Committee and West and Asian studies committees. Recently Steve presented a paper on Salman Rushdie's Satanic Verses, and a book entitled "Shahjahauabad: The Sovereign City in Mugdal, India, 1639" is to be published later this year. More news already in house, but no more space keep it coming and congratulations!
