Our 30th Reunion was a blast, thanks to Dick Couch and his committee, Bob Cahners, George Fesus, Herb McCord, and Sandy McGinnis. Approximately 50 of us signed up, and we came from as far as Florida (Fred Rothenberg), California (Jim Bell), the Northwest (Doug Montgomery, making his first return since 1964), and the Southwest (grampa Willard Cook). Connecticut grampa Bill Craig was there, as were local New Hampshire yokels Dave Hess and Curt Little. At the class dinner our new class president, Chris Palmer, delivered his first speech as president and was interrupted by the unannounced presence of President Freedman while he was in the midst of telling a great story... something about friends, enemies, and manure. Freedman obviously enjoyed the conclusion, declined to try and top it, and was rewarded with a check from the class totalling $375,000 for the Alumni Fund.Other highlights included the class luncheon with the '62s and '63s by the boathouse; the wonderful symposia on "Hope and Dreams," "Fitness Past 50," and "Sports & Life: What Have We Learned"; tent activities with Bobby Diamond and the Heart Breakers; the beauty of the College; and the quickness of the Class Meeting ran less than five minutes during which class officers were elected after a close and hard-fought battle. The new leaders are President Chris Palmer, VP Bob Cahners, Secretary Tom Parkinson, Newsletter Editor Bob Paterson, and Head Class Agent Sandy McGinnis.

Perhaps our most meaningful experiences at reunions are unplanned and involve people we did not know in college. For me it was an afternoon at Storrs Pond swimming and talking about life with Willard Cook, whose daughter graduated with mine in June. I dropped Willard off in Hanover holding his nine-monthold grandson. For these reasons, these memories, the reunion keeps us close to the magic of the College. I urge you to renew that magic for yourself at your next opportunity. It was a pleasure to serve you as your secretary. Please help Tom Parkinson by sending him news.
