In our ever-expanding pursuit of class news, Phoebe and I traveled to Denver, Colo., in the late fall to check up on '59 Regional Chairman Jim Swanson and his wife, Sue, and to tap their knowledge of our western contingent.

Jim lives in Denver, having officially retired from his real estate investment business in the early eighties. Since then he has enjoyed some of the fruits of his labor. His retirement, however, is not just travelling the world, siding the Bugaboos, or enjoying his Winter Park ranch, for Jim does manage to be very busy in Denver. There he is active on a local bank board (a very solvent one), earned a master's in urban planning in 1985, continues to manage his and others' real-estate endeavors, and, in his spare time, serves the City of Denver on its advisory planning board. Son Erik is in Santa Barbara, having graduated from Bucknell, daughter Lori is working on her master's at San Diego State, and daughter Cathi lives and works in Denver. Jim promises lots of class information.

Craig Harlan writes from Cleveland that he returned to Ohio in 1987 to accept the position of v.p. and general manager of the alloy division of Brush Wellman Inc., a Cleveland-based engineering materials company. He also advises that he spent an enjoyable evening last October with Bill and TinaColehower and Earl and Kathy Glazier on the occasion of their 35th reunion of the William Penn Charter School class of '55 in Philadelphia. Per Craig, "We Dartmouth guys appear to be holding up better than the others (although I am probably a bit biased)." Thanks, Craig.

The Palm Beach Post relates "that KenLibo stated, 'When I grew up in Eastern Connecticut, I never imagined in my wildest dreams that Jewish life went west of the Hudson river.' That parochial view was shattered when Libo went away to Dartmouth College and was assigned a Jewish roommate from Albuquerque, N.M." Since then, Ken has written a book on the role of Jews in the West titled, We Lived There Too, and today is curator of American Jewish History for the Museum of Jewish Heritage, which is sched- uled for completion in 1992. It will be located at the tip of Manhattan.

A welcome letter from Warren Huse arrived advising that he happily retired from the army after 21 years and has spent the past ten years enjoying the good life in Laconia, N.H. He is a staff writer for the Evening Citizen of Laconia, is associated with the New

Hampshire Musical Foundation as stage manager, and in his spare time serves as curator (and treasurer) of the Laconia Historial Society. He also reports the 30th Reunion was the best ever.

Warren also enclosed an article he had written on Dr. Richard Forster, reporting that Dick had returned to Laconia for his father's funeral. Dick came from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he has spent the last three years as medical director of the King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital (annually it performs 7,500 eye operations and receives about 80,000 patient visits). The article quoted Dick as stating that Riyadh is probably the safest city on earth as far as crime is concerned and further notes, "it is a fantastic country and an extremely good professional experience—as well as culturally and socially." He and his family plan to spend Christmas in Florida before returning to Saudi Arabia.

Keep your notes and letters coming.
