Those in need of a good litigator in Boston will be happy to learn that Goodwin, Procter and Hoar has invested heavily in class of 1984 lawyers with the acquisition of Mark Tully, Dave Veator, and J.B. Daukas, all of whom work in the firm's litigation department. Mark married a classmate from Harvard Law and bought a house in Arlington; Dave is a graduate of Duke Law School living the life of a Back Bay bachelor; J. 8., a product of Virginia Law, lives in a house in Norwood he purchased with his wife Christie. When I expressed my surprise at J. B.'s sudden transformation from the king of swing dancing and the wild man of many a frat party to a dull, docile domestic, he defended his reputation to the bitter end. As evidence that he had not cashed in all his chips for a life of sedentary suburbia, J.B. pointed out that although they do own a Ford Taurus station wagon, he had not yet installed wood paneling on the side, and Christie had firmly refused his attempts at getting an Irish Setter. Sounds to me like it's just a matter of time before little J.B. III and young Muffy are on their way.

J.B. also filled me in on the whereabouts of a few classmates he has kept in touch with. Randy Slayton lives in Wethersfield, Conn., with wife Brenda, works at Aetna, and recently returned from a hunting trip in his native New Hampshire, where, according to J.B., "he bagged a 162-pound Bambi-like creature." John "Toe" Ferreby lives with wife Sandy in Louisville, Ky., and works in the investment division of First Kentucky. Andy Pickens recently graduated from UCLA Law School and is clerking for a judge in North Carolina. Slim passed the Texas bar but, according to my source, may stay in N.C.

I also heard from Becca Haerle. Last January she decided to leave her job in the computer department of Morgan Stanley in New York to head for the great outdoors in Washington State. After getting her masters at Thayer Becca worked in Baltimore and then the City, and now she lives in Tacoma and works as a computer consultant to the State. She writes, "My big accomplishment this summer was climbing Mount Rainier all 14,410 feetofit. On the way down I was wondering why I ever left New York City now I'm even contemplating doing it again someday." When not enjoying the flora and fauna, Becca said she travels quite a bit including a trip to Pennsylvania for the July 4 wedding of Cheryl Baylor. After a six-week honeymoon in Europe, Cheryl and her new husband moved to Louisville, Ky. There she is working for the Colonel at Kentucky Fried Chicken Headquarters, using the business acumen she honed at UVAs Darden School.

Others at the Baylor wedding included bridesmaids Dr. Gail Marino, KarenThomson Trost, and Sharon Wilmott. Gail lives in Boston, where she has received a fellowship in internal medicine at New England Deaconess Hospital and enjoys biking and sailing during whatever free time she has. Karen lives in Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J., with husband Don, her high school sweetheart. She lives down the street from the house she grew up in and works for Harper & Row Publishing, which, and I'm stretching here to continue the coincidence, probably published the books she read as a child. Sharon is living in New Hampshire and actually took time from her own honeymoon to attend Cheryl's wedding.

That's all I have to report, so 'til next we talk, keep those cards and letters coming.
