This month is something of a milestone in that it marks the first time I have ever received enough mail to make frantic calls on the night before deadline unnecessary. Kim Dodge was kind enough to send me a photo from her May 2 wedding to John Pettit. Since my editors don't have space for the "Dartmouth group wedding shot" that is de rigueur at the wedding of most alumni, I will tell you that this shot features her grandfather ,Jim Dodge '23, Th '24, her dad, Doug Dodge '54, and several classmates: MonicaLatini King and husband Alan '83, RichardSullivan, Linda Cronin, and MaryellenAnderson Prescott and husband Gordon '83. Kim and John live in Boxford, Mass., where the circa 1900 barn they live in also houses the offices of their own architectural practice.
I received confirmation of my earlier report that Karen Thomsen Trost and husband Dan were blessed with son Kyle Andrew on August IS. Karen has heard from CherylBaylor-Guenther, who is living in Louisville, Ky., with husband Karl and "is working for Kentucky Fried Chicken (no, not behind the counter!)." She's also heard from KarenPeterson Hellmann, who lives with husband Marshall in Arlington, Va., where both work for MCI.
During an industry trade show in September, Jeff Sirkin stopped by our booth to let me know that he is working in New York City for Chase Bank's real-estate group, where he has been since getting his M.B.A. in 1990. He said that he enjoys living in the City and has kept in touch with Neal Bibeau, who works in strategic planning for Dun & Bradstreet in Europe. A pseudo-business call to Ric Lewis confirmed his recent marriage to Jeanne Brown, whose brother is a '90. Ric said the July 11 wedding in Hanover was "a wild, stupid affair reminiscent of our days at the College" and ended with an unnamed guest streaking across the Green. Ric was recently promoted to VP at the Boston real-estate firm of AEW (he asked that I address him as "Mr. Lewis") and lives in Brookline. His wedding was chock fall of Dartmouth alumni who do not earn mention either because they are in other classes (the "right class" test) or they have recently appeared in the column (the"new news" test). One exception is Ben Potter, who is a doctor in Portland, Maine. Ben recently did a six- week stint in Alaska a la "Northern Exposure." I believe wife Dina is also a doctor, but I could not confirm this without calling them which would have meant rewriting my earlier comments about this month being a milestone.
Courtesy of the Alumni Office (you don't think I came across the piece in the Valley News myself, do you?) I learned that JohnPryor is directing a federally funded drug and alcohol awareness program for 7th- and 8 thgraders in several Upper Valley public schools. John is splitting his time between his duties in Virginia, where he is a consultant at the Institute for Substance Abuse Studies, and at Dartmouth Medical School, where he is a research assistant professor. Finally, I heard that R. Scott Miller completed a residency program as an internist at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. That's it for now. Don't forget. Reunion June 18-20, 1993. Till next we talk.
