We retirees all have our hobbies, and to each his own say I, but it's refreshing to hear about some of the more unusual ones. Don Allen: "For several years now I have been attempting to computerize the seventh edition of the Indonesian Science Dictionary. I've been working on it most of the time since 1963, the first time we lived there. Because of the structure of the language—abundance of affixes—computerizing has been a tricky job. But with recent advances in both hardware and software, I believe the problems are licked." Don, when you finish the job, what happens to it? Publication? Tape duplication?

From Bob Monagan, 1933's secretary, I received a copy of "A Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of James Henry Wakelin, Jr." Bob found the service most impressive, as indeed it must have been for so distinguished a public servant. He was especially moved by James Ill's eulogy for his father. Passages from the Old and New Testaments were read by David Wakelin '69. Our deep sympathies go out to Jim's Carol and his three sons. An obituary will appear in a later issue of this magazine.

Whit Daniels writes me on a green card: "Re the continuing controversy of The Review in Bob's great newsletter just received: I'm surprised that there has been no reference so far to Charles Sykes' The Hollow Men, in which he discusses Ivy League education in general and Dartmouth in particular, revealing some things about the College more shocking than any Review report. Why castigate those who tell us that the emperor has no clothes?" I can only guess that Bob, like me, hasn't read TheHollow Men. Didn't the Hopkins Institute subsidize the writing of the book? You'd hardly expect to find unbiased truth in it.

"Of the 26 alumni living in SE Wisconsin," writes EvHokanson, "I am the only '32. The range of classes is scattered from 1926 through 1953, plus Russ Campion in '79. About ten of the Milwaukee group meet monthly informally for luncheon. We welcome any out-oftowner visiting Milwaukee to join us on short notice. Please phone me at 414/351-0544."
