What is an ASPEC? 1) An organization of musicians? 2) A tomato gelatin delicious in salads? 3) Academy of Senior Professionals at Eckerd College? 4) None of the above?

Yes, discerning reader, No. 3 is correct, but I'll bet you didn't know that FritzBrowning was president of that academy for five years until he moved to "northern Ohio" last summer. Fritz, send me your address and I'll tell the guys how to change their Nifty Fifty-Fifth directories.

For word of the Brownings' move we are indebted to Don Allen. He and Kay have visited ASPEC in St. Pete, Fla. "We were much impressed with the program." ASPEC offers forums and lectures in an engaging variety of subjects from foreign affairs to classical music. There are recreational activities as well (bridge, chess, golf, sailing), and volunteer work—something, obviously, for every senior professional. On the occasion of their move, Fritz and Helen were crowned king and queen of the enter prise and made permanent, non-resident ASPEC members.

Gentlemen and ladies, our ranks are thinning, and your tireless head agent, Milt Alpert, needs more support than ever. Have you "given till it feels good to the '89 Alumni Fund?" Incidentally, Milt and a few other retired judges in Florida are trying to relieve pressure on the state courts. This they do informally: no robes, no theatrics it's just a matter of sitting at a table with disputing parties and attorneys. Quiet dis cussion can lead to an out-of-court settlement, in a malpractice suit, for example. Win some, lose some. Get Milt to tell you about the badly burned woman who sued a magazine, claiming that cautionary advice in an ad was not adequate. (And watch out how you use nail polish remover. It's highly flammable. The woman forgot to use her American Heritage Dictionary.)

It is late to be reporting that in October Deke Mack retired as chairman of the board of R. P. Scherer. I wonder whether it was ever recorded in this Magazine that in 1975 Financial World called Deke "one of the ten outstanding chief executive officers of all U.S. corporations." If not, it is now. Bravo, Deke.
