This spring at Mercer Law School, in addition to my duties as assistant dean, I plan to co-teach a course called "White Collar Crime." Of course, we in the criminal defense profession know that white collar crime is simply "regular" crime dressed up in a coat and tie. It brought to mind many a night of calling some friend who appeared to be die same size as one of my clients and requesting an old shirt, tie, coat, etc., so that my client might appear more presentable in the eyes of the jury. Plus, I had many a whitecollared bank robber, counterfeiter, and burglar. A coat and tie can do a lot for your case. In fact, at one trial the jury thought the prosecutor was the defendant since the defendant looked more well-attired.

I have news from Tom Kent that he is no longer going to work on an oil rig in Texas, but plans to travel to Kuwait where he is going to rebuild the buildings ravaged by the war.

I was quite interested in the piece about William Slattery in Rick Ranger's newsletter. William is presently living in Los Angeles, Calif., and manages a small press library at Beyond Baroque, a well known literary arts foundation. He works on the staff of Beyond Baroque's magazine, Forehead, and runs their opening reading series. He recendy completed the training necessary to teach as a California Poet in school, has been published in half a dozen magazines, was featured on an hour- long radio program, and just lately published his first book. Norman Dubie, one of America's greatest poets, and a favorite of mine, described William's poetry as "serene, true, wicked, and tender." William and his wife, Linda, live in Los Angeles.

Congratulations to Ken Kobylenski and wife Marissa who had a second child, Stacia Marie. Stacia joins her brother, who is four.

Charles and his wife, Ann, have also recently celebrated the birth of their son Nathan.

David Roulston is practicing law in Philadelphia, Penn. David, wife Susan, and son Jordan are living in Cherry Hill, N.J. (across the Delaware River from Philadelphia). David recently joined the real estate section of the law firm of Duane, Morris and Heckscher in Philadelphia.

Bryan Follett reports that his business in the voice processing industry continues to be successful, and he just installed an interesting system for Target Stores in Minneapolis. Bryan and wife Mindy have a daughter, Susan, in the third grade, and a son, Andrew, in the first grade.

No news from Jack Martin, en route to Saudi Arabia.
