I am sitting down to type this column after a wonderful and exciting weekend at the Masters Tournament in Augusta, Ga. The Masters is one of Georgia's finest events, and this year turned out to be a particularly exciting one. I saw TommyJohnson III there, who reports that he is having a successful year as senior vice president of the brokerage firm Johnson, Lane, Space, and Smith.
Tom Eggleston was married October 5, 1985, to Katherine Ann Richardson in Indianapolis. They celebrated their marriage with Ken and Lucy Canfield, Dave Cranshaw, John and Mary Rassios, and Billand Kay Andres. Tom has taken a leave of absence from his eight-person law firm and teaching position at Purdue to serve as general counsel and vice president of corporate development for the 10th PanAmerican Games in July and August of 1987. Some 6,500 athletes and coaches from 37 nations will compete over 17 days. Tom says that classmates are welcome to stay for the games. His new address is 3256 Shoreway Court, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
Doug Shufelt writes to announce the birth of his third child, Bradford Whitman Shufelt, born March 16, 1986, at nine pounds, six ounces. Doug and Betsy also have a daughter, four years old, and a son, three years old.
As promised, I have attempted to gather information about some of the 1974 women. Chris Nicholson reports that she and husband Cal Bowie are doing well. Chris is a lawyer with the 25-person law firm of Zuckerman Spader in Washington, D.C. Her husband, Cal, is an architect with his own firm, Bowie Gridley. They have a daughter, Alexandra, one.
Also in Washington, D.C., is CandiceIngals, who has a relatively new job as vice president and general counsel of real estate with Buvermo Management, Inc. She still resides in Georgetown and stated that she has run into a lot of fellow classmates skiing out west this winter.
Living in Hanover, N. H., is Jan Tarjan, who has been working for the Tucker Foundation since August 1978. Jan runs the local volunteer service programs and the worldwide fellowship service program called the Tucker Fellow Program. She also advises the Dean of the College on a variety of matters. She additionally runs the Tucker Foundation Retreat Program. Her husband, Raymond Brewster, is a builder in the area and secretary of the board of directors of the United Develop- mental Service which works with the mentally retarded. They have a daughter, Ariel Brewster.
In Cleveland, Ohio, is Candy Neville and her husband, Bob Scanlen. Candy and Bob had a baby boy on March 3, 1986, named William Neville Scanlen. Bob Scanlen is president of Cleveland Twist and Drill Company, and Candy states she has her hands full right now with young William.
I had a wonderful conversation with Roselyn Loomis, who had a very busy year last year. She was married in February 1985 to Paul Meyer, had a baby named Nickolas in November, and was appointed to a judgeship later in the year. She is presently living in Maui, Hawaii, and working part-time as a family court judge. Her husband is chief financial officer for the Maui Land and Pineapple Company.
I also spoke with Jody Hill, who reports that she has a new position teaching a course in music history and conducting the chorus at Lasell College in Newton, Mass. Her latest challenge is conducting the "Boston Bar Association Chorus" which is comprised of 25 singing lawyers in the area. Rick Simpson, Jody's husband, is director of National Accounts for ATEX. They have two sons, Charlie, 5, Pete, 3, and a baby expected in May.
