Last week I had lunch with one of my partners in the criminal defense business who is still zealously representing those accused. He is presently representing one of my old clients Nathaniel Hawthorne a.k.a. John Smith on counterfeiting charges. When I represented Nat he was accused of passing altered bills. It seems he cut the corners off one dollar bills and pasted twenty dollar corners in their place. (You need only 80% of a bill intact for it to still be passable). Anyway, now he was allegedly pasting fifty-dollar corners on twentys. Not my most creative client.
Congratulations to Steven A. Sandberg, appointed to the board of directors of Cushman & Wakefield. Steve is chief general counsel and secretary for the firm, and has been responsible for the legal department since 1987. Prior to that, Steve spent five years at the Rockefeller Group as an assistant secretary and associate general counsel.
Other congratulations to David Danielson for his appointment as municipal court judge in San Diego County. David was a partner with the firm of Ault, Deuprey, Jones, Danielson & Gorman, and specialized in medical and legal malpractice. He had been a partner with the firm since 1979. He was previously an associate with the firm of Holt, Rhodes & Hollywood. David, who received his law degree from the University of San Diego, took the pay cut that accompanies the move from private practice to the bench because he felt it was important to have an impact on the judicial system.

Keith specialized in nematology, a subspecialty of internal medicine and focuses on arthritis and related diseases. Keith was a close friend of mine at Dartmouth and my car partner from Pottstown/Redhill, Pa., to Hanover and return. Anyone wishing to make a contribution should contact the Ann L.
