As the days roll by and the birthdays come and go, I'm reminded again that most of us were born in 1922 and this is 1991, so we're mostly 69 years old now. The old soixante-neuf crowd ...

And while we're at the numbers game, a correction. Last fall I reported that Walt Price's son Jeff had been married six years and had six children. Not so; he's been married six years and has one child. Walt himself has been married six years (re-married, that is) and between him and his wife, Dee, they have six children and five grandchildren. You can see how my quickly scribbled notes got scrambled.

We've been talking here about high school 50th reunions and '44 groups from Colorado and New Jersey, etc. Norm Simpson called to wonder whether any school could match Deerfield's record. It sent no less than fourteen '44s to Dartmouth: Jim Averill, Jim Clark,Ave Clark, Dick Farnsworth FredHeidner, Norm McWilliams Bill Orr KenPerry, Bill Saunders, Monty Sayce, NormSimpson, Shel Spicer, John Weeks, and Arch Welch.

Further, we mentioned last month that Meryll Frost had 15 grandchildren. Can anyone top that number? Any takers? And further from Norm Simpson, we learn that he is on three Rotary Club committees and is editor of its Syracuse magazine; and he and wife Betty have finally finished painting their summer camp on Fourth Lake in the Adirondacks; but he has not yet gotten around to putting all the family 16 mm. home movies on video.

We talked to a couple of happy retirees recendy, Bob Rickey in Chevy Chase, Md., and Will Johnson in Armonk, N.Y. Bob retired 11 years ago after a lifetime with the Civil Aeronautics Board, where he was an assistant chief in the investigation and audit division. He and wife Lillian are modest travelers; Bob collects books and U.S. post office first day covers and dabbles in the garden; and Lillian is an ardent antiquer. She calls Bob the happiest retiree in the entire United States!

Will Johnson spent 38 years with Arthur Andersen & Cos. in New York City before turning in his computer ticket two years ago. He and wife Dorothy are ancient civilizations buffs, and beyond extensive reading and research they have visited countries throughout Asia and the Americas. The Johnsons have three kids and three grandchildren and live in a modern house built by a contemporary of Frank Lloyd Wright. Will is due for a hip operation "I need a brand new one" this fell.

Everyone's favorite psychoanalyst and miler, Don Burnham, writes to say that son Jud '70 is a graduate of the Vermont Law School and is now an attorney in Sharon, Vt.; and, just to keep it all in the family, that Jud's wife Carol is a psychiatric nurse at Dartmouth's Department of Psychiatry. Don himself says that he wishes the College would worry less about "communications strategies" and "spin" (mentioned in a recent Alumni Magazine piece) and more about straightforward information. "Just dish it up straight," he says.

One death to report: Dave Templeton died February 21 in Florida. Our sympathies.

That's it. Blessings.
